Hopscotch Primary Care, a technology-enabled primary care company focused on rural communities, has raised $53 million in Series D funding round.
Founded in 2021, the company currently serves more than 15,000 patients across the Southeastern United States, with its largest concentration in rural Western North Carolina.
The Series D round was led by 8VC and Townhall Ventures, with participation from existing investors including aMoon Fund, Citi Impact Fund, Alumni Ventures and K2 HealthVentures.
New investors in the round include the Autism Impact Fund, John Doerr, Dr. Richard Merkin and the Leon Levine Foundation.
Funding to Expand Rural Healthcare Access
Hopscotch plans to use the new funding to expand access across the Southeast, enter additional rural markets and continue scaling its technology-enabled healthcare operations.
The company was created to address growing healthcare challenges in rural communities, where physician shortages, hospital closures and limited access to care continue to create significant gaps for patients.
Hopscotch combines direct primary care services with technology designed to reduce administrative work and help healthcare providers focus more on patient care.
Technology-Powered Primary Care
Hopscotch provides services including same-day appointments, 24/7 access to care teams and proactive patient outreach.
Its technology platform is designed to support providers by reducing administrative burdens while helping care teams stay connected with patients beyond traditional clinic visits.
The company says its model has delivered strong patient engagement with a Net Promoter Score of 89 and patient retention consistently above 90%.
Hopscotch also reports that its management of medical expenses has contributed to an improvement of more than 25 percentage points in medical loss ratio (MLR) for patients during their first two years.
Expanding Across Rural Communities
Hopscotch sees an opportunity to use advances in AI and digital health alongside increased investment in rural healthcare to improve access and outcomes.
The company is currently operating 12 clinical locations across rural communities in the Southeastern United States and says its operations in Western North Carolina have already reached profitability.
With the new Series D capital, Hopscotch plans to build on that momentum by expanding into more rural markets and bringing its technology-powered primary care model to additional communities.
