Berlin-based AI company Integral has raised €18 million in a Series A funding round. The company uses AI to provide accounting, tax, and payroll services for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs). It has raised more than €30 million since it was founded less than two years ago.
The funding round was co-led by Mosaic Ventures and Reid Hoffman. Existing investors Cherry Ventures, General Catalyst, and Puzzle Ventures also participated in the round.
In November 2025, Integral acquired cleverlohn, a German company that provides digital payroll and HR services. The acquisition helped Integral strengthen its payroll and HR offerings for businesses in Germany.
The latest funding follows Integral’s previous €6.3 million funding round in February 2025. The company plans to continue developing its AI-powered platform for accounting, taxation, payroll and other financial services for SMEs.
“Software doesn’t file your business’s taxes. It doesn’t run your payroll and it doesn’t sign your annual accounts. A licensed professional does, and there are fewer of them every year. So instead of building yet another tool for professionals, we built the firm itself: AI agents do the work, licensed experts stand behind every result. The deeper our automation goes, the better the service. This investment round lets us push automation even deeper across all workflows, and it validates that AI-native services is the winning model to rebuild this industry,” said Zörner, co-founder and CEO of Integral.
AI’s real promise is amplifying what people can do, not replacing them. Integral shows what that looks like in one of the most regulated, trust-dependent industries there is: agents that multiply the reach of licensed professionals, so every small business gets the kind of financial expertise once reserved for large corporations. That’s the pattern the next decade of professional services will follow, and Lukas and Anil are building it where the bar is highest: Germany,” said Reid Hoffman.
“With AI, it’s possible to rebuild industries from the ground up – not just sell better software. In accounting, tax and payroll, the need is obvious as labour shortages are only getting worse. Integral is uniquely well positioned to solve that problem in Germany and beyond,” said Chandar Lal, Partner at Mosaic Ventures.
Integral was founded in 2024 by Lukas Zörner and Anil Can Baykal. The company combines the expertise of licensed tax professionals with AI engineers to provide accounting, tax and payroll services. Its goal is to help business founders spend less time on paperwork and more time growing their companies.
Integral says its AI agents can handle many tasks that would normally require a full accounting and tax team. The technology is designed to automate routine financial and compliance work for businesses.
The AI agents can match invoices with payments and bank transactions, create accounting entries, prepare payroll, and handle tax filings. This allows SMEs to manage these tasks more efficiently through one platform.
