
Nanolope, a DeepTech startup based in Berlin, has raised €800,000 in pre-Seed funding. The company is developing high-density materials that can store thermal energy in a small space for use in buildings and energy systems.
The funding round was backed by IBB Ventures through its pre-Seed Fund B# (“be sharp”). Several experienced business angels and industry experts from the energy, real estate and materials technology sectors also invested in the round.
“The transition to sustainable heating will be decided in existing buildings. Many properties need solutions that can be retrofitted quickly and economically, without major structural interventions. That is exactly what we are developing with our thermal storage panels,” said Dr. Felix Marske, CEO and co-founder of Nanolope.
Nanolope was founded in 2025 by Dr. Marske, Eric Matthes, and Dominik L. Schreiber, LL.M. The company has developed a patented technology that stores heat and cold inside existing buildings. Its goal is to help buildings become more energy-efficient, climate-friendly, and cost-effective.
Nanolope focuses on passive thermal storage systems for homes and commercial buildings. These systems can store heat or cold and help maintain a comfortable indoor temperature without relying as much on heating and cooling equipment.
The company says buildings are among the biggest energy users in Europe. Older heating systems, poor insulation, and stricter energy-efficiency rules can lead to high energy costs and CO₂ emissions. However, fully renovating older buildings can be expensive, time-consuming, and difficult for property owners.
Nanolope’s technology is designed for housing companies and commercial property operators, including hotels, offices, and cafés. Its aim is to improve the energy efficiency of existing buildings while also making indoor spaces more comfortable for residents and visitors.
The company’s ceiling panels can turn walls, ceilings, and floors into passive thermal storage systems. This helps keep indoor temperatures more stable throughout the year, while reducing the need for heating and cooling, cutting CO₂ emissions, and lowering peak energy demand.
Nanolope says its materials are developed using green chemistry principles. The panels are made from renewable plant-based materials sourced in the EU, do not use rare earth elements, and can be recycled at the end of their life. The technology is designed to reduce energy use and emissions while providing a durable solution that can be installed without major building renovations.

Nanolope plans to use the new funding to increase production of its thermal energy storage systems, launch its first pilot projects, and grow its team.
