Arcos Raises €5.5 Million Seed Funding to Build Next-Generation Civil Security Infrastructure

Munich-based startup Arcos, which develops and operates infrastructure for civil security, has raised €5.5 million in a Seed funding round. The company also officially launched to the public today.

The funding round was led by High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), with participation from Bayern Kapital, Pact, Haufe, Robin Capital, and several strategic business angels.

“Europe has understood that its safety is its own responsibility, and that this includes the infrastructure everyday life runs on: power, transport, water, data. We started Arcos a year ago because nobody was building the company that keeps watch over it. This round lets us grow the team in Germany, extend the platform and take our first steps into critical infrastructure, and then into further European markets,” Moritz Steigerwald, founder and managing director of Arcos, told EU-Startups exclusively.

Arcos was founded by Louis Wübben and Steigerwald. The company provides civil security services and builds and operates the infrastructure needed to support modern security systems.

Its infrastructure includes highly secure systems that collect and connect security signals with the technology used to process them.

According to Arcos, the security industry is going through a major change as sensors are being installed on a much larger scale. These sensors are now being used in homes, commercial buildings, railway stations, substations, and data centres.

“This industry helps decide whether the country functions, and it is changing faster than ever before. More sensors, fewer people. What is missing is someone who looks. That is exactly what we are building with our technology and the offering of a full-service provider,” said Wübben, founder and Managing Director of Arcos.

Arcos says it builds and manages its security infrastructure from start to finish. The system brings signals from different connected sources into one place, making it easier to understand what is happening.

The company says its platform can handle security incidents from the initial alert until they are resolved. It also records each step, while human experts can step in and make decisions when a situation requires judgment.

Arcos aims to replace the many separate security systems that operators currently use with one connected infrastructure. This is designed to make security operations simpler and more efficient.
