Furo Raises €3.44 Million to Scale Battery Storage Software Across Europe

Furo, formerly known as Lumera Energy, is a Munich-based energy software company. It has raised €3.44 million (about $4 million) in new funding.

The company will use the funding to improve its software and expand into more European markets.

The funding round was led by US-based investor TQ Ventures. Sandberg Bernthal Venture Partners, the fund of Sheryl Sandberg, also participated in the round.

Existing investors Neo and CDTM Venture Capital also took part in the funding round.

“Our customers did not buy a battery in order to own a technology, but in order to lower their electricity bill. In one of the most volatile power markets in the world, that is decided by the software, not by the hardware. That is exactly why we founded Furo,” said Lena Sophia Voß, co-founder of Furo.

Furo was founded in 2025 as Lumera Energy by Voß, Leonie Wagner and Simon Wittner. The three founders met while studying in a joint master’s programme at the Centre for Digital Technology and Management (CDTM) of LMU Munich and the Technical University of Munich.

Furo develops software that helps businesses manage and optimise commercial and industrial battery storage systems. Its platform predicts electricity prices and weather conditions up to 48 hours in advance.

The software uses these predictions to decide in real time when batteries should store electricity and when they should release or sell it. This can help businesses make better use of renewable energy and reduce energy costs.

Furo says rising energy demand from AI data centres is putting more pressure on energy-intensive industries, especially in Germany, where electricity prices are already high. Battery storage can help by storing extra solar and wind power and releasing it when needed.

However, many battery systems still use fixed, pre-programmed settings instead of responding to changing weather and electricity prices. Furo aims to solve this by using real-time data and forecasts to manage battery systems more efficiently.

“Lena, Leonie and Simon understand the European energy market at an extraordinary level of depth. It’s a remarkable example of team-market fit. Together, they bring exceptional technical depth and operational experience in Europe’s most complex power market. That’s already reflected in the number of projects and the data they’ve built up. Coupled with a global market for storage flexibility set to multiply in the coming years, we see this as one of the greatest opportunities in Europe and beyond,” said Schuster Tanger, co-founding partner at TQ Ventures.

Furo has partnered with Berlin-based LUOX Energy, the end-customer brand of Lumenaza GmbH. The companies will launch a combined solution to help businesses manage and optimise commercial and industrial battery storage systems.

In May 2026, Furo announced that it was changing its name from Lumera Energy as part of its rebranding.
