UK-based startup Nous has raised $17 million in new funding to expand into international markets and add more features to its AI-powered platform. The company helps households manage everyday tasks, handle bills and find ways to save money.
The funding came from Heartcore Capital and existing seed investor Mosaic Ventures. Chalfen Ventures, Joyance Partners and Bain Future Back Ventures also took part in the round. Several angel investors backed the company as well, including entrepreneurs linked to Monzo, GoCardless, Founders Factory, Faculty.ai and Onfido.
Nous was founded by Greg Marsh, who previously co-founded onefinestay, a luxury accommodation marketplace. He created Nous to help people manage household administration more easily and reduce the time spent dealing with bills, contracts and other routine responsibilities.
The company’s AI agent helps users find cheaper deals, switch service providers and cancel unwanted subscriptions. It can also complete forms and highlight unfavourable contract terms or expensive renewals, helping households avoid unnecessary costs.
Beyond saving money, Nous helps users organise their daily lives. Its platform can manage family calendars, send reminders about important deadlines, find local tradespeople and book appointments. These features aim to make everyday household management simpler and less time-consuming.
Unlike tools that only offer advice or send reminders, Nous can carry out tasks on behalf of users once they give permission. The platform combines large language models with rule-based systems to handle specific actions more carefully, especially when financial decisions are involved.
Nous operates within the relevant regulatory framework and is registered with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the UK. This allows the company to support regulated activities, including purchasing insurance.
With its new funding, Nous plans to expand its reach and develop more services to help households manage their money and daily responsibilities.
Commenting on the company’s approach, Greg Marsh, founder and CEO of Nous, said: “We’ve spent the last 18 months building and honing an agent that not only feels magic, but is also one people can actually trust. If you are allowing an AI agent to make financial and purchasing decisions on your behalf, you need to know it’s up to the job. That’s why Nous is laser focused on its vertical of household spending and admin, and why we take safety and privacy so seriously.”
The new funding will help Nous expand its services to cover more household expenses and regulated activities, including a wider range of insurance and financial services. The company also plans to add more features to help people manage everyday tasks and bring its platform to international markets.
