TypeSafe AI raises $870 million at $7.5 billion valuation

San Francisco-based AI startup TypeSafe has raised $870 million in funding at a $7.5 billion valuation to expand its AI model, Jev, and develop new tools for businesses and software developers.

The funding round was led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), with participation from Sequoia Capital, DCVC and several angel investors. The investment comes less than a month after TypeSafe launched Jev, which the company says has already been adopted by around one-third of Fortune 500 companies.

TypeSafe is developing AI technology designed to help software applications make decisions without relying on lengthy text responses. The company aims to make automated tasks faster, less expensive and more reliable for businesses.

What Makes TypeSafe’s Jev Different?

Most large language models generate text in response to a request. When businesses use these models inside software applications, developers often need to convert the responses into structured data before the applications can process them.

Jev takes a different approach. Instead of generating natural language responses, it produces structured outputs that software can use directly.

The model currently supports three main types of tasks: answering yes-or-no questions, selecting an option from a list and generating scores based on defined criteria.

For example, a cybersecurity application could use Jev to rate security alerts according to their severity. A customer support system could use it to estimate the urgency of a ticket and help prioritize responses.

By producing structured results directly, Jev aims to reduce the additional code developers need to process AI-generated information. This could simplify software development and lower the risk of errors caused by converting unstructured text into usable data.

Faster and More Cost-Efficient AI

TypeSafe says Jev can process requests in under 700 milliseconds and is up to 200 times faster than some leading AI models. The company also claims its technology can be up to 100 times more cost-efficient.

These are company-reported figures, and actual performance may vary depending on the task, model and deployment environment.

Jev can also provide confidence scores alongside certain outputs. Applications can use these scores to decide when a result requires further checks or human review, helping manage the risk of incorrect AI decisions.

The company developed Jev using a training approach called reinforcement learning for calibrated decisions, alongside a custom model architecture.

TypeSafe’s goal is to make AI more practical for automation tasks where predictable, machine-readable outputs are more useful than conversational responses.

TypeSafe’s Rapid Growth and Fortune 500 Adoption

Jev launched on September 15, 2026, according to the information provided about the company. TypeSafe has attracted significant attention since its release, with the company reporting adoption by approximately one-third of Fortune 500 businesses.

The company has not disclosed the names of those customers or detailed revenue figures. However, it says Jev processes trillions of tokens daily and is already profitable.

TypeSafe reportedly has just over 20 employees, making the size of its funding round notable relative to its current team.

The investment will help the company expand product deployment, recruit more employees and secure additional computing resources to support demand.

How TypeSafe Plans to Use the $870 Million

TypeSafe plans to use the funding to expand its System One model series, which includes Jev, and develop additional AI models.

The company also intends to introduce new enterprise features to make its technology easier for large organizations to adopt.

As businesses increasingly use AI to automate software development, security monitoring and other operational tasks, TypeSafe is betting that specialized models capable of delivering structured decisions can provide an alternative to traditional text-generating systems.

Its next challenge will be to maintain speed and reliability as usage grows, while demonstrating that its reported cost advantages translate into real savings for customers.

About TypeSafe

Founded in 2024 by by Diogo Almeida, Sasha Sheng and Erik Gafni, TypeSafe develops AI technology designed to support automated decision-making inside software applications.

Its flagship product, Jev, produces structured outputs for tasks such as classification, selection and scoring rather than conventional text responses.
