Dutch SportsTech Startup Huppa Raises €1M in Pre-Seed Funding

Amsterdam-based SportsTech startup Huppa has raised €1 million in pre-seed funding. The company offers an all-in-one platform that helps gyms, CrossFit boxes and fitness studios manage their businesses more easily.

The funding round was led by a group of experienced entrepreneurs and investors, including the founders of Dutch tech companies Sentia, Keylane, TicketSwap, Moneybird and Revue. Early-stage venture capital firm NL SportTech Ventures also participated in the round, supporting Huppa’s growth in the sports technology sector.

Founded in 2024, Huppa was created by Sharief Mohamed and Gino Arendsz, who were frustrated with the outdated software used at their kickboxing gym and CrossFit box. Their experience inspired them to build better tools to help fitness businesses manage their daily operations.

At the heart of the company is the Huppa Platform, an all-in-one system designed for gyms, CrossFit boxes, martial arts studios, yoga and Pilates studios, and other group fitness businesses. It brings member management, class scheduling, payments, financial reporting and automation together in one place, helping owners manage their businesses more easily.

The platform also offers smart scheduling tools for businesses operating across multiple locations. Its dashboard tracks key business figures, including revenue, VAT and membership data. Huppa also provides different access levels for coaches, managers and administrative staff. Its pricing is based on the number of active customers, with no separate module charges or unexpected upgrade fees.

Huppa connects with payment provider Mollie and fitness platforms such as Urban Sports Club and ClassPass. While the company currently focuses on simplifying administrative work, it plans to introduce AI-powered tools to provide useful business insights and automate more tasks. Its goal is to become a digital partner that helps fitness business owners make better decisions.

For example, Huppa aims to help owners understand which memberships are performing well, which classes could generate more revenue and where they can find new growth opportunities. The company will use its new funding to further develop its platform and expand its team.

Huppa believes the group fitness market is growing and becoming more complex as businesses manage memberships, multiple locations, product sales and third-party integrations. By automating routine tasks, the company aims to give fitness entrepreneurs more time to focus on their communities while allowing members to manage more of their own fitness experience.
