Firehawk Defense Raises Over $150 Million in Series D Funding at $1.4 Billion Valuation

Firehawk Defense, a US-based defense technology company specializing in rocket propulsion and advanced energetic materials, has raised more than $150 million in an oversubscribed Series D funding round at a valuation exceeding $1.4 billion.

The round was led by Advent and Rochefort Asset Management, with additional participation from new and existing investors and strategic partners.

The company will use the funding to expand its manufacturing capabilities, increase production of artillery motors and solid rocket motors, and develop additional research and development facilities. The investment will also support hiring and expansion at its production sites in Lawton, Oklahoma, and Crawford, Mississippi.

Firehawk Defense is developing a patented manufacturing process that replaces traditional propellant production methods, which can take weeks, with a thermoplastic process that produces energetic feedstock in hours. The material can then be shaped into specific propellant designs using compression molding, extrusion, or 3D printing.

According to the company, this approach reduces lengthy curing cycles and manufacturing reliability issues, enabling faster and more flexible production at scale. Firehawk expects to become the largest U.S. producer of artillery motors and the country’s third-largest propellant producer by the end of 2027.

“This financing lets us turn a manufacturing breakthrough into production capacity the warfighter can count on,” said Will Edwards, CEO and Founder of Firehawk. “It funds the next phase of production at volume. We are on a mission to make American strength inexhaustible and we’re proud to have this continued vote of confidence as we do it.”

“Deterrence is not a talking point, it depends on whether America can build and replenish the weapons systems it needs, at the speed the moment demands,” said Kyle Bass, Founder and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Rochefort Asset Management. “Firehawk solves the problem at the source: inside the factory. Firehawk exemplifies the kind of innovative production capacity this country needs more of, and we are excited to help them accelerate production.”

Expanding Rocket and Artillery Production

Firehawk’s product portfolio includes artillery motors, solid rocket motors, rocket-assisted projectiles, rocket-assisted takeoff motors and missile integration services.

In May 2026, an agreement was formed between the company and General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, which will boost the process of creating and producing 155mm base bleed motors made to ensure artillery reach. Joint efforts would see Firehawk’s thermoplastic propellant technology combined with General Dynamics’ expertise in manufacturing metal components and integrating them into ordnance.

Firehawk conducted its first live firing test of Hydra-70 rockets at the company’s plant in Crawford, Mississippi. The trials took place at Yuma Proving Ground wherein the company achieved 100% success in the test. The test was conducted subsequent to a U.S. Army contract awarded to the company for broadening the supply chain for Hydra-70 rockets.

“Firehawk is solving one of the most critical bottlenecks in the American missile supply chain. Its manufacturing approach is genuinely novel and has already won strong traction with both the primes and the end users. We’re proud to partner with and support the team as they strengthen the American industrial base,” said Shonnel Malani, Managing Partner at Advent.

Previous Funding and Expansion Plans

The latest financing follows Firehawk’s $60 million Series C round, which closed in September 2025 and a strategic investment in November 2025 to accelerate solid rocket motor production and integration.

Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, Firehawk operates a 320-acre propellant and motor production facility in Lawton, Oklahoma, and a rocket-system integration facility in Mississippi. It also conducts research, development, and rocket testing at two sites in West Texas.

With its new funding, Firehawk plans to expand production capacity and strengthen its ability to manufacture propulsion systems and energetic materials for defense applications.
