Clark Raises $11M in Seed Funding to Launch Autonomous AI Audit Employees

Clark, an AI startup developing technology for professional services firms, has raised $11 million in seed funding and launched Clerks, a team of autonomous AI employees designed to perform audit work for accounting firms.

The funding round was led by Touring Capital with participation from existing investors Marathon Management Partners, Rerail and Sofeon Ventures. Combined with a previous $5 million funding round led by Marathon Management Partners in September 2025, the latest investment brings Clark’s total funding to $16 million.

Clark’s new AI employees, called Clerks, are designed to handle audit tasks from start to finish. They review documents, perform testing, prepare audit workpapers, and follow up with clients when additional information is required. They can also resume work automatically when requested documents become available.

The Clerks use Material Intelligence, Clark’s AI operating system, which incorporates AI agents, document processing and a memory system that retains information throughout an audit engagement. The platform addresses routine updates, escalates issues requiring an auditor’s attention along with supporting evidence.

“For as long as people have kept accounts, someone has had to check them. Today that checking happens once a year, long after the decisions it was meant to inform,” said Enes Witwit, founder and CEO of Clark. “Our Clerks don’t sleep. They stay on the engagement, chase what’s missing and keep the work moving between the moments an auditor looks at it. Today they work alongside auditors. We are building toward fully autonomous audit employees, and toward an economy whose claims are verified as they happen, so fraud and waste are caught while the money is still there.”

“Assurance is fundamentally a trust business, and AI creates an opportunity to dramatically expand what CPA firms can accomplish without compromising that trust,” said Priya Saiprasad, co-founder and general partner at Touring Capital. “Clark’s Clerks don’t wait to be asked. They carry an engagement forward on their own, coordinating with clients and acting as new information arrives. We believe this is the foundation of an entirely new operating model for assurance.”

Licensed certified public accountants (CPAs) remain responsible for professional judgments, reviewing audit work, and signing audit opinions.

Clark aims to make financial verification more continuous by helping accounting firms identify errors, fraud, and potential financial risks more efficiently. The company sees opportunities beyond traditional audits, including monitoring government spending and business transactions.

More than 35 CPA firms already use Clark’s platform, including CliftonLarsonAllen, Aprio, Kreischer Miller, and Sensiba. The company also offers a 100% accuracy guarantee and a peer review guarantee for its AI-generated work.

Formerly known as uiAgent, Clark is headquartered in New York and focuses on developing AI tools for audit and assurance professionals.
