Agora Labs Raises €4.3M to Help Hospitals Share Clinical Data Securely

Italian deeptech company Agora Labs has raised €4.3 million in a funding round led by venture capital firm P101 SGR. The Mussetto family also participated in the round. They own Infinite Five, a holding company that focuses on marketing technology, data analysis and robotics.

Founded in Rome by Davide Zaccagnini, a vascular surgeon and biomedical informatics expert, and engineer Fabio Giulietto, Agora Labs develops technology that helps hospitals share clinical data for medical research while protecting patient privacy.

Hospitals collect large amounts of medical data that can help researchers develop better tests and treatments. However, this information is often spread across different computer systems and stored in formats that are difficult to organise and analyse. This makes it harder for researchers to use the data effectively.

Agora Labs aims to solve this problem by helping hospitals organise and process their medical data without moving it outside their own systems. The company installs dedicated computing equipment at hospitals and uses GPUs provided by technology partner NVIDIA. Its AI models help organise and standardise medical information, while data anonymisation helps protect patients’ identities.

The company also uses federated AI technology to connect hospitals and research centres. This allows researchers and pharmaceutical companies to study data from multiple healthcare facilities without directly accessing individual patient records. AI models can be trained and tested within each hospital, with only the results shared across the network.

This approach allows hospitals to keep control of their data while helping researchers study larger groups of patients across different countries. Agora Labs currently works with a network of 50 healthcare facilities and plans to double that number in the coming months.

Davide Zaccagnini, founder and CEO of Agora Labs, said: “The arrival of P101 and Infinite Five in Agora Labs addresses two specific needs: scaling our data network even faster and activating global-scale projects on it. Resources matter, but what counts most is experience, market understanding, international credibility and genuine strategic collaboration within the board. I admit I was surprised, and I am truly excited, to see all these elements come together so organically while working with the P101 and Infinite Five teams. Our ambitions, already high, have only grown.”

Agora Labs operates in the Real World Evidence (RWE) market. This field uses data collected during everyday medical care to help researchers study diseases and develop better healthcare solutions.

The new funding will help the company expand its presence in Europe and the United States. It also plans to enter new international markets, including the Middle East and India.

To support its growth, Agora Labs plans to hire around 20 new employees in technical and commercial roles over the coming months.
