Berlin Fintech finmid Raises €17 Million to Expand Embedded Lending Platform

Berlin-based embedded lending company finmid has raised €17 million from Big Pi Ventures and Mainset, with existing investor Earlybird also participating. The latest investment is an extension of the company’s Series A round and brings finmid’s total funding raised to €52 million.

The company is also launching two major financing products. The first is a multi-year vehicle financing programme with Bolt, designed to help drivers access vehicle financing. The second is a merchant lending programme with Skroutz, giving merchants on the e-commerce platform access to financing.

finmid provides embedded lending solutions for platforms and marketplaces. Its financing programmes already support companies including Wolt, Delivery Hero, and myPOS, helping their users access funding directly through the platforms they use.

The new funding will be used to expand finmid’s asset-financing products, multi-source funding infrastructure, and lending assessment capabilities. The company also plans to enter more platform categories, including mobility and e-commerce, as it continues to expand its business.

Alexander Talkanitsa, co-founder, finmid said: “Two years ago, embedded lending meant a cash advance for a restaurant. Today the same rails carry a multi-year vehicle loan, a marketplace’s own balance sheet, and the potential for more. Every platform with business customers now has a way to become their financing partner without becoming a bank.”

Max Schertel, co-founder, finmid said: “Small businesses have never lacked ambition – they’ve lacked a lender who could see them. Platforms, with their live and embedded view of the businesses they power, are uniquely placed to fill that gap, and finmid exists to make it happen. With Bolt we’re financing the cars that fleets run on; with Skroutz the marketplace itself is putting its capital behind its merchants. Our job is to make that credit safe, fast and regulated – whoever provides the money and whatever businesses need it for.”

finmid was founded in 2021 by former N26 executives Alex Talkanista and Max Schertel. The company is also backed by Max Tayenthal, co-founder of N26 and their former boss.

finmid provides embedded lending services, allowing businesses and platforms to offer financing to their customers under their own brand.
