San Jose, California-based Peraso, a wireless semiconductor company, has agreed to receive approximately $10 million from NantCapital LLC through a private placement to support the development of communication technology for drones and defense applications.
The investment is expected to close on or about October 28, 2026, subject to customary closing conditions. The financing will allow Peraso to scale its operations and speed up the commercialisation of its wireless technology for unmanned systems.
Its technology employs beamforming to direct radio signals to specific receivers, enabling targeted communication links for data-intensive applications.
“Peraso’s team has proven start-up experience including commercial success in communication networking devices,” said Celtic House Partner Brian Antonen. “The technical team is recognized as one of the top research groups in the world focused on mmwave technology. We expect Peraso to take advantage of synergies with Celtic House’s portfolio of consumer electronics-focused companies by leveraging their technology and customer relationships.”
“With our own internal expertise in communication ICs, we recognized the value proposition of mmwave technology” explained Shawn Abbott, partner with iNovia Capital. “mmWave wireless devices have the potential to provide an order of magnitude improvement in raw bandwidth performance in a highly energy efficient manner.”
“We feel the Peraso team has a real feel for the financial metrics necessary to establish a successful technology venture” states Jim Whitaker, Managing Partner at VentureLink Funds “The efficient use of capital is critical in an emerging technology start-up.”
“The relevant domain experience of our investors was an important factor in our ability to raise the financing.” stated Ron Glibbery, President and CEO of Peraso. “The broad array of market opportunities afforded by mmwave technology, coupled with world class intellectual property, was immediately recognized as a compelling investment opportunity.”
The company plans to use the proceeds for working capital, engineering, product development, customer engagement and commercialization efforts. The investment will also support its expansion into drone communications and counter-drone applications.
Demand for reliable wireless communication systems is growing as defense organizations and commercial operators increasingly use unmanned systems. These systems require high-capacity connections to transmit control instructions, sensor information and other data.
NantCapital is an investment firm affiliated with NantWorks, a technology group founded by physician and entrepreneur Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong. NantWorks operates across sectors including healthcare, life sciences, energy and communications.
The investment provides Peraso with additional capital to develop its millimeter-wave technology and pursue opportunities in the growing unmanned systems and defense markets.
