nPhase, Inc., a clinical research technology company, has raised $30 million in Series D funding. The round was led by Viking Global Investors and will support the expansion of nPhase’s AI-native clinical data platform for pharmaceutical companies.
The funding marks nPhase’s first equity raise since 2017. The company said it has expanded its business over nearly a decade without raising additional equity capital.
The investment follows the launch of nPhase.ai, a platform designed to connect clinical data management and statistical computing across the clinical trial process, from study startup through regulatory submission.
“We see a significant opportunity to modernize how the life sciences industry manages and uses clinical data,” said Levi Malik, a Principal at Viking Global Investors. “nPhase combines something rare in the AI market: an established foundation in clinical research, deep understanding of regulatory requirements, and a clear vision for enterprise-scale AI. We believe this combination positions the company well for its next stage of growth.”
The platform combines the company’s Unified Data Management System (UDMS) and Statistical Computing Environment (SCE). It brings together data from clinical sites, laboratories, patients, and digital health sensors in a governed environment.
“We’re proud to have earned the confidence of Viking Global Investors, whose deep expertise in life sciences and enterprise technology makes them an ideal strategic partner,” said Scott Climes, CEO of nPhase, Inc. “We’ve built the unified, governed data foundation that makes AI possible across the clinical data lifecycle. This investment will accelerate our next phase: expanding agentic AI capabilities that puts data to work through intelligent workflows. Our vision is to fundamentally transform clinical research by moving beyond managing data aggregation to intelligent execution that accelerates life-saving therapeutics to patients.”
nPhase.ai is focused on regularizing and verifying medical information. This technology allows analytics teams to assess their clinical techniques for safety and performance and to respond to findings in almost real time. Moreover, its research equipment facilitates producing datasets and analyzing reports in accordance with international standards.
The platform is designed to support AI agents in tasks such as identifying data discrepancies and drafting statistical programming. Human experts retain decision-making authority.
nPhase develops technology that connects clinical trial and real-world data to support clinical decision-making. Its offerings include nPhase.ai for pharmaceutical sponsors and contract research organizations, as well as REDCap Cloud EDC for smaller sponsors, academic and nonprofit research organizations, MedTech studies, and real-world data programs.
The company plans to use the latest funding to further develop its clinical data platform and support pharmaceutical companies seeking to use AI across clinical research.
