Nordic HRtech startup Fronted has raised €1.7 million (NOK 18 million) in a seed funding round. The company will use the funding to expand internationally and improve its AI-powered platform for managing global employment.
The funding round was led by Swedish investment firm Kaknäs Invest, with participation from Skagerak Capital. Existing investors Antler and Sondo Capital also joined the round, along with several new angel investors.
Expanding into other countries can be challenging for businesses because they must follow different employment laws, payroll systems and tax rules. Managing these requirements often involves working with multiple service providers, increasing costs and administrative work.
Founded by Marius Blaker Høgevold, CEO, and Hans Nyvold Kjellby, Chairman and CCO, Fronted aims to make international hiring easier. Its platform combines global recruitment, Employer of Record (EOR) services and company setup and management tools in one place.
The company’s software automates tasks such as payroll calculations, tax adjustments and employment contract creation. By including local employment rules in its platform, Fronted aims to reduce manual work, make pricing clearer and help businesses manage compliance across different countries.
Marius Blaker Høgevold, co-founder and CEO of Fronted, highlighted the challenges businesses face when expanding internationally, particularly the costs and complexities associated with existing service providers. We are building the invisible software layer that takes away the headache of cross-border administration, giving ambitious companies a trusted Nordic partner to scale globally with total transparency and ease.
Fronted will use the new funding to grow its business, expand its operations to 70 countries and improve its AI-powered payroll system.
