SpendRule, an AI-powered contract enforcement platform for healthcare organizations, has raised $4 million in seed funding led by Mark Cuban’s Radical Investments with participation from Zeal Capital Partners. The latest round brings the company’s total funding to $6 million.
Founded in 2025 and headquartered in Dallas, Texas, SpendRule helps organizations ensure they pay exactly what their contracts require. The company uses artificial intelligence (AI) to compare invoices against negotiated contract terms, identify overcharges and help businesses recover money they are owed.
The new funding will support product development, engineering expansion and deeper engagement with healthcare organizations. SpendRule also plans to extend its contract enforcement technology beyond healthcare to serve a broader range of businesses.
AI-Powered Contract Enforcement
Healthcare organizations manage thousands of vendor relationships and complex purchased services contracts covering staffing, facilities, maintenance, environmental services, security, and IT. Ensuring that every invoice matches the agreed terms can be time-consuming and difficult.
“Companies spend all this time negotiating contracts, but what’s the point if nobody checks whether they’re getting what they paid for? That’s the problem SpendRule is solving,” said Mark Cuban, Radical Investments.
“Every company makes commitments it can’t monitor, enforce, or keep current. SpendRule turns agreements and policies into deterministic decision systems that actually run: they check what was billed, chase what’s missing and prove the result. With one instruction, ‘activate ongoing verification for this agreement,’ finance teams can put any contract under continuous enforcement. Our ambition is to become the infrastructure that makes commercial agreements work across companies, software platforms and AI agents, ” said, Joseph Akintolayo, Co-Founder and Co-CEO, SpendRule.
SpendRule solves this problem by linking contract terms to real transactions and supporting evidence. It reviews contract provisions on the platform, examines invoices for discrepancies and flags potential over-payments. It also outlines the relevant contract clauses and the calculations behind its findings to help organisations validate charges and seek credits.
When discrepancies arise, customers and vendors can use the platform to review the same supporting evidence, making the resolution process more transparent.
Supporting Billions in Healthcare Spending
SpendRule currently supports $2.91 billion in annual contracted purchased services spending across 2,187 business relationships.
The company serves healthcare organizations including OSF HealthCare, Kettering Health, MemorialCare, and MUSC Health.
Beyond identifying billing errors, SpendRule aims to protect the value of negotiated agreements by helping organizations prevent overpayments and recover funds they are contractually entitled to receive.
Building Infrastructure for AI Agents
SpendRule aims to provide the contract intelligence those systems need to make informed decisions as businesses increasingly leverage AI agents to buy services, approve invoices and make payments.
Its platform is designed to help AI agents understand what individual agreements permit before transactions are approved or payments are made. This could help businesses enforce contractual obligations more consistently as financial workflows become increasingly automated.
With its latest funding, SpendRule plans to strengthen its healthcare offering while expanding its technology to additional industries.
