Plato, a San Francisco-based startup developing simulated workplaces for AI training and evaluation, has raised $16 million in Series A funding. The round was led by Nava Ventures, with participation from Gradient Ventures, Transpose Platform, and Mustafa Suleyman.
The latest funding brings Plato’s total funding to $19 million. The company was founded by CEO Robert Farlow and CTO Pranav Putta.
Plato builds simulated software environments where AI agents can practice workplace tasks before handling them in real-world systems. Its platform allows AI labs to train and evaluate models in realistic, repeatable settings without affecting live business operations.
The simulations recreate work processes using tools, scenarios, and task requirements. AI models can learn from feedback and gain experience completing complex, multi-step tasks.
Plato supports several business functions, including customer support, human resources, finance, accounting, and healthcare administration.
The company plans to use the new funding to expand its library of real-world work simulations and deploy AI agents on actual tasks to gather more training experience.
As businesses increasingly adopt AI agents, companies are looking for ways to help these systems handle more complex responsibilities. Plato aims to address this challenge by providing the training environments AI models need to improve their ability to perform practical workplace tasks.
