Italian Startup Magic Vision Raises €600K for AI-Powered Elderly Care

Italian deeptech startup Magic Vision has raised €600,000 in funding to develop and bring its AI-powered monitoring technology to market. The technology is designed to help care for older people and vulnerable individuals. Investors include SixS, the Italian company behind Gecos, a management software platform for nonprofit organisations. The round also includes Italian business angels with experience in law, compliance and business development.

Founded in 2023, Magic Vision develops artificial intelligence (AI) and computer vision technology for elderly care. Its solutions aim to help older people live more safely and independently while making it easier for caregivers to monitor their well-being.

As the number of older people grows, care providers are facing increasing demand for their services. At the same time, many struggle with staff shortages and limited resources. Magic Vision aims to help address these challenges through its Silver Eye system, which uses AI and environmental sensors to detect falls, monitor changes in behaviour and identify potential risks without requiring people to wear a device.

Silver Eye uses Magic Vision’s AI and computer vision technology to understand daily activities and rest patterns. It can identify unusual behaviour and detect critical events that may require attention. The system is designed for different settings, including private homes, senior living facilities, shared housing and residential care homes.

Privacy is also an important part of the technology. Silver Eye processes data locally using edge AI and does not store or transmit images. Instead of working like a traditional video surveillance system, it analyses relevant information to identify possible risks and sends alerts to caregivers when someone may need help.

Through Silver Eye, Magic Vision aims to support safer living environments for older people while helping caregivers respond to potential problems more quickly. The company is developing its technology for use across different care settings where safety, privacy and independent living are important.

“Population ageing is putting pressure on care systems, which must meet growing needs with increasingly limited resources and staff. Technology can make a practical contribution by enabling continuous monitoring and timely intervention when needed,” says Lorenzo Mauri, co-founder and CEO of Magic Vision “With Silver Eye, we want to enable new care models that help older people remain independent while supporting families and care professionals. The funding has allowed us to bring the technology to market and prepare for our next phase of growth”.

“The idea for Silver Eye came from a personal experience: when my grandfather fell and remained on the floor for an entire day, I started looking for a solution that could prevent something similar from happening again,” says Federico Lanzani, co-founder and CTO of Magic Vision. “Wearable devices, emergency buttons and other available systems had significant limitations. We therefore decided to use our expertise in artificial intelligence to develop technology capable of recognising risks without requiring a person to wear a device or call for help”.

The funding has helped Magic Vision complete the development of Silver Eye and prepare it for the market. The system is already being tested and used in commercial projects with care providers in Italy. More than 200 sensors have been installed so far.

Magic Vision aims to use Silver Eye to monitor more than 100 people by the end of 2026. The company hopes to expand the use of its technology to help care providers improve safety and support older people in their daily lives.
