Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech Secures €19.6M

Spain-based Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech, the country’s only full-stack quantum computing company, has raised €19.6 million in the first close of its Series A funding round.

The round was led by Indra Group through IndraMind, its sovereign AI initiative, which invested €10 million. The Spanish Society for Technological Transformation (SETT), a public organisation under Spain’s Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Administration, also continued its support with an additional investment of €9.6 million.

“SETT’s renewed commitment and Indra’s investment bring sovereign and industrial capital together to protect, while also accelerating, national technological autonomy. Together, we are joining forces to bring quantum computing closer to strategic industrial sectors and to ensure that the quantum technology being built in Spain continues to grow in Spain,” said Marta P. Estarellas, CEO of Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech.

“Quantum computing will mark a decisive leap in the evolution of artificial intelligence and its ability to solve highly complex problems. With this transaction, Indra Group strengthens its position in this strategic field, while IndraMind expands the capabilities it can use to develop sovereign, differentiated solutions for defence, security and industry,” said Ignacio Martínez, General Manager of IndraMind.

The new funding will help Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech expand the production of its quantum computers, develop next-generation chips, and increase its manufacturing and deployment capacity. The company expects to complete its Series A funding round in the fourth quarter of 2026, with further investment from Avançsa and other existing investors.

Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech was founded in Barcelona in 2019 by Dr. Pol Forn Díaz, Dr. Victor Canivell, Dr. José Ignacio Latorre, Jordi Blasco and Dr. Artur Garcia Sáez. The company was established as a spin-off of IFAE, the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) and the University of Barcelona. It develops complete quantum computing systems, including its own chips, software and algorithms, as well as the cooling and control technology needed to operate them.

The company builds quantum processors using superconducting fluxonium qubits, which are designed to maintain their quantum state for longer and be less affected by errors than conventional transmon-based qubits. Qilimanjaro combines analogue and digital quantum processors with powerful traditional computing systems. This approach helps it develop quantum computing solutions for different types of tasks.

Qilimanjaro says its technology is already being used in real-world settings. Three of its quantum computing systems are currently operating at the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre (BSC-CNS), one of Europe’s largest supercomputing facilities. One of these systems is the first analogue quantum computer to be integrated into a European high-performance computing (HPC) centre.
