Oslo-based Pistachio, an AI-powered platform focused on human risk, has acquired the intellectual property (IP) of Hugin.io, a Norwegian cybersecurity risk management platform.
Hugin.io helps growing businesses understand and manage their cybersecurity risks. It also helps companies show that they meet cybersecurity and regulatory requirements.
With the acquisition, Pistachio plans to expand beyond human risk and add compliance management to its platform. This will help the company offer more services to small and medium-sized businesses and mid-market companies.
The acquisition is expected to strengthen Pistachio’s cybersecurity offering and give customers more tools to manage risk and compliance. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
Joe Jones, Pistachio CEO and co-founder, said, “Organisations are being asked to meet increasingly complex security requirements, but few have the resources to manage them. We built Pistachio around the idea that effective cybersecurity should not require constant effort from already stretched teams. Bringing Hugin’s technology into the platform is a natural next step, allowing us to extend that approach from human risk into compliance and help more organisations build resilience without adding another layer of complexity.”
Founded in 2023, Pistachio is a cybersecurity company that helps small, medium-sized, and mid-market businesses manage human-related security risks.
Its platform automates security awareness training and helps detect potential insider threats. It also adapts the training and security measures based on each employee’s role and behaviour.
Jørgen Færevaag, co-Founder and CEO, Hugin.io, said, “Cybersecurity is one of the most significant challenges for growing businesses. The issue is not simply knowing that requirements exist, but understanding what applies to your organisation, where the gaps are and what needs to be done to address them. Hugin’s technology makes that process simpler and more accessible. With Pistachio, the technology will reach a much larger customer base as part of a broader cybersecurity platform, putting know-how in the hands of those that need it most as they scale.”
The new product is expected to officially launch in 2027. It will offer tools to help businesses understand, measure, and improve their cybersecurity. It will also include features for managing devices and applications.
Pistachio says the new compliance product will help growing businesses stay secure and ready for audits. It aims to reduce the need for manual work when preparing for security certifications.
