London-Based Emerald Secures €1.66M to Grow Preventive Healthcare Services

London-based preventive healthcare platform Emerald has raised an additional €1.66 million (£1.4 million), bringing its total funding to €3.44 million (£2.9 million). The new funding will support the company’s continued growth and development.

The latest funding includes an €832,200 (£700,000) grant from Innovate UK, marking Emerald’s second grant from the organisation. The company also secured another €832,200 (£700,000) in venture capital investment following the grant award.

All existing investors took part in the round, alongside new backers, including Sequel and Highgoal. Emerald’s valuation has also increased compared with its previous funding round.

Alexander Badalyan, co-founder and CEO of Emerald, explained, “There’s huge demand for access to simple healthcare tools that move beyond just testing. People want to understand what those results mean and the steps they can take to boost their long-term health – informed by guidance from trusted medical experts.

“A preventative approach to healthcare significantly improves long-term health outcomes by providing a more holistic view of a patient’s health, highlighting potential issues before they become critical, and empowering people to enter the right pathway earlier.

“Achieving this ambition is a cornerstone of the current Government’s current health agenda – but the NHS cannot deliver this shift alone. Government efforts must be matched with innovative solutions that are able to have widespread reach. Emerald has unlocked access to millions of potential users through its partnerships – with ambitions to become the UK’s go-to platform for long-term health management. This additional funding allows us to build on the demand we’re already seeing, deepen these partnerships, and expand care.”

Founded in 2024, Emerald combines laboratory tests at clinics with a digital platform that brings together test results, wearable device data and medical history. This helps users spot possible health risks earlier and make better decisions about their long-term health.

Unlike traditional health checks that provide a snapshot of a person’s health at one point in time, Emerald tracks changes over time. It combines medical test results with lifestyle information and wearable data to help users understand health patterns and identify areas that need attention.

Each member is also assigned a general practitioner (GP) who can diagnose health conditions, prescribe medication and refer patients to private healthcare services or the NHS when needed.

Emerald was founded by healthcare professionals and is registered with the UK’s Care Quality Commission (CQC). It is authorised to carry out medical testing, screening and treatment for various health conditions. Its platform is also registered with the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) as a UKCA Class I medical device.

Chris Sawyer, Innovation Lead, Digital Health at Innovate UK, said, “Connecting earlier health insights with appropriate care is an important opportunity for healthcare innovation in the UK. Through this award, we are supporting Emerald’s development of AI-enabled technology designed to help clinicians deliver more personalised, proactive care. We look forward to seeing the project progress and the impact it could have on health outcomes.”

Emerald will use the new funding to grow its business and improve its products and healthcare services. The company aims to reach one million members over the next three years.
