Tolan Raises $30 Million to Expand Its AI Companion Platform

Tolan, a San Francisco-based AI startup, has raised $30 million in a new funding round, bringing its total funding to $60 million.

The round was backed by Union Square Ventures, Khosla Ventures, and Homebrew.

The company will use the new funding to improve its AI technology, expand its machine learning engineering team, develop better voice-processing capabilities, and attract more users.

Tolan is building an AI companion designed to help people manage everyday tasks, organize their lives, set personal goals, and navigate emotional challenges. The platform combines conversational AI with an animated character to provide personalized support.

One of Tolan’s key features is its long-term memory technology, which helps the AI remember personal context from previous conversations. This allows users to retrieve past information and manage complex daily tasks more easily.

The company is also developing its voice-based AI capabilities to make conversations more natural and useful. Its technology is designed to help users access personal information and organize their activities across multiple devices.

Tolan is led by CEO Quinten Farmer, CTO Evan Goldschmidt, and President Ajay Mehta. The company currently serves more than 250,000 active users and aims to expand its AI companion platform with the help of its latest funding.
