Firecrawl, an AI data and web research company, has raised $75 million in Series B funding led by Smash Capital. The round also included Altos Ventures, Nexus Venture Partners, Y Combinator, Freestyle and Offline Ventures.
Along with the funding, Firecrawl launched Alexandria, a new library designed to give AI agents access to official data providers, specialized datasets, Firecrawl’s own indexes and the live web through a single interface.
AI agents can already search the web, but many important sources require separate integrations. Financial data, government records, scientific research and other specialized information are often available through different APIs and platforms.
Alexandria aims to bring these sources together through the Firecrawl API. Its library includes official data providers, Firecrawl’s Research Index, Developer Index and Government Index, as well as site-specific connectors and access to the live web.
“We’re building a library for the world’s knowledge,” said Caleb Peffer, co-founder and CEO of Firecrawl. “People have licensed data for training, but almost no one gets paid when an AI agent actually uses what they know. We want people and organizations to earn from the data they have, while helping AI agents solve problems they couldn’t solve before.”
Firecrawl said internal evaluations showed that AI agents using Alexandria achieved 21% higher answer quality compared with agents using built-in web tools.
The company already has agreements with data providers such as Wikimedia Enterprise and pays providers for direct access to their data. Firecrawl plans to launch a self-service system that will allow individuals, content creators and organizations to contribute knowledge and receive payments based on demand from AI agents.

Firecrawl will use the new funding to expand Alexandria’s indexes and retrieval technology, connect with more first-party data sources and build payment infrastructure for contributors.
Alexandria is currently available through Firecrawl’s MCP, CLI and API. Firecrawl says more data sources and indexes will be added over time.
