MoneyStack, a financial counseling platform designed for behavioral healthcare, has raised $1 million in new funding to expand its technology and financial counseling services.
The round was led by Cistern Capital, with participation from the American Heart Association’s Social Impact Funds, O’Shaughnessy Ventures, Sidecut Ventures, Gaingels and angel investors.
The latest investment brings MoneyStack’s total funding to nearly $2 million.
MoneyStack plans to use the new funding to continue developing technology that integrates financial counseling into behavioral healthcare programs, including its GamFin services for gambling addiction.
MoneyStack works with behavioral healthcare programs by integrating dedicated financial counselors into treatment services.
The company helps individuals and families address financial distress that can accompany mental health conditions, substance use disorders, addictions and impulse-control disorders.
MoneyStack says financial problems and behavioral health challenges can often reinforce each other. Its platform is designed to give patients access to financial guidance alongside their behavioral healthcare treatment rather than leaving them to manage financial challenges separately.
The company also focuses on gambling-related financial harm, where money can be directly connected to the underlying behavioral health condition.
MoneyStack plans to use the new capital to build technology specifically designed for financial counseling within behavioral healthcare.
The company is also working to turn years of counseling experience and client data into technology that can expand the reach of its services.
One area of development involves using financial transaction data to identify early signs of financial harm. The goal is to help counselors and clients identify potential problems earlier and develop plans before financial issues develop into a crisis.
MoneyStack’s GamFin suite provides financial counseling products and services focused on gambling addiction.
Financial distress can have a significant impact on people’s mental and physical well-being.
MoneyStack cites research showing that many people with lived experience of mental health problems report a connection between their financial situation and mental health.
The company also points to research linking financial strain and food insecurity with health risks, highlighting the broader impact of financial instability.
Gambling-related financial harm is another area of concern. MoneyStack says financial struggles were cited in a large share of conversations with the National Problem Gambling Helpline in 2025.
The company aims to address these challenges by making financial counseling part of behavioral healthcare treatment.
MoneyStack is a member of the Techstars Economic Mobility Accelerator’s 2023 class.
The company’s investors include Cistern Capital, the American Heart Association’s Social Impact Funds, Sidecut Ventures, O’Shaughnessy Ventures, Gaingels, the Richard King Mellon Foundation, The Fintech Fund, Techstars and angel investors.
With the latest $1 million funding, MoneyStack plans to continue expanding its financial counseling platform and developing technology that can help behavioral healthcare providers identify and address financial distress earlier.
