RemoteThreat, a cybersecurity company focused on offensive cyber operations, has emerged from stealth with the launch of its O/C/O Platform and $7 million in pre-seed funding.
The funding round was led by Osage University Partners and DataTribe, two venture capital firms focused on cybersecurity and technology.
“RemoteThreat is exactly the kind of company DataTribe exists to back: founders who spent their careers on the operational side of offensive cyber, building something government mission teams and enterprise red teams actually need,” said Bob Ackerman, Co-Founder & Managing Partner at DataTribe.
RemoteThreat plans to use the funding to accelerate deployment of its platform and develop additional capabilities for enterprise, critical infrastructure and national security customers.
The O/C/O Platform is designed as an integrated platform for offensive cyber operations. It is built for expert cybersecurity teams and red teams that need to simulate sophisticated cyber threats and evaluate their defenses.
The platform brings multiple systems into a unified operational environment, covering areas such as mission planning, command-and-control, initial access, advanced capabilities, analysis and AI-assisted operations.
RemoteThreat says the platform is designed to help security teams adapt to increasingly sophisticated cyber threats as AI capabilities continue to advance.
The company is also developing its technology for use by U.S. government mission teams and vetted defense partners.
RemoteThreat has established a strategic partnership with The Nakasone Group, which will serve as a strategic advisor to the company.
The national security advisory firm was founded by retired U.S. Army General Paul M. Nakasone, who previously served as director of the National Security Agency and commander of U.S. Cyber Command.
RemoteThreat has also joined the USSOCOM Special Operations Forces Rapid Acquisition Consortium for Emerging Requirements (SOF RACER) to provide offensive cyber capabilities for evolving special operations missions.
The company is working with defense technology partners including Talon Defense to integrate complementary cybersecurity capabilities into existing operational platforms.
RemoteThreat was founded by offensive security veterans Chris Thompson and Shawn Jones.
The company’s team includes cybersecurity professionals and researchers with backgrounds at organizations including IBM X-Force Adversary Services, Mandiant, SpecterOps, Dreadnode, Bugcrowd and Microsoft, as well as defense contractors and government organizations.
The team has experience in offensive security research and red-team operations across defense, critical infrastructure and financial services environments.
“Our offensive cyber capabilities must outpace the adversary. New AI-driven attacks are fast but noisy, while human-driven operations take too long and struggle to scale. Expert operators spend too much time assembling tools and building integrations, on top of the cognitive demands of planning operations, weighing decisions, and adapting to rapidly changing networks,” said Chris Thompson, Co-Founder and CEO of RemoteThreat. “We founded RemoteThreat to close that gap by bringing composable, tunable offensive capabilities, operational infrastructure, and governed AI into one platform — so teams can execute more advanced, complex attacks at speed and scale while maintaining the precise control each mission demands.”
RemoteThreat aims to combine this expertise with AI-enabled technology to support cybersecurity teams dealing with increasingly complex and rapidly changing threats.
The launch comes as organizations and governments prepare for the increasing use of AI in cyber operations.
RemoteThreat says AI-enabled attacks are becoming more sophisticated and that security teams need new tools to test their defenses against emerging threats.
The company has also highlighted recent U.S. government efforts to increase collaboration with the private sector on national cybersecurity capabilities.
With its $7 million pre-seed funding, RemoteThreat plans to expand deployment of the O/C/O Platform and continue developing its technology for enterprise, critical infrastructure and national security applications.
