Liner, a San Francisco-based AI research and agent startup, has raised $36.1 million in Series C funding.

The round was led by LB Investment, with participation from existing investors InterVest, Atinum Investment, and CJ Investment. New investors include Korea Development Bank (KDB), KB Securities, Daishin Securities, STIC Ventures, and Helios Private Equity.

Founded and led by CEO Luke Kim, Liner provides an evidence-first AI research platform that focuses on giving users answers supported by sources and citations. Its technology helps users verify information and conduct research more efficiently.

Liner has grown to more than 14 million registered users across 220 countries, including the U.S., Europe, India, and Southeast Asia.

The company has expanded beyond consumer AI with products such as Liner Scholar for academic research, Liner Write for business use, and Liner Finance for investment research.

Liner has also started expanding into the enterprise market. The company has partnered with HUMAIN, a Saudi Arabian AI company, to provide AI-powered search technology for its HUMAIN ONE platform.

The new funding will be used to advance Liner’s AI technology and infrastructure, expand into enterprise AI markets, hire global talent, and support marketing and business expansion.

Liner aims to further develop its AI agents and build new monetization opportunities while making its technology more useful for both individual users and businesses.
