BioStack Raises $9.5 Million in Seed Round Led by Peak XV

Healthcare technology startup BioStack has raised $9.5 million in seed funding to expand its healthcare data infrastructure platform and support the development of medical AI models.

The funding round was led by Peak XV, Afore Capital, DCVC, Emerson Collective, SV Angel, Verdict Capital, Streamlined Ventures and Y Combinator.

The company will use the funds to expand its operations across the United States and international markets, improve its technology platform, and grow its engineering and research teams.

BioStack is building a data infrastructure network that connects fragmented patient records from hospitals and healthcare providers. The company operates across the United States, India, Brazil and Argentina, with access to more than 100 million de-identified patient records.

Patient information is often spread across different hospitals, laboratories and healthcare systems, making it difficult for researchers to understand a patient’s complete medical history. BioStack aims to solve this problem by connecting clinical notes, laboratory results, medical imaging, medications, treatments and patient outcomes into more comprehensive records.

“Collecting every event linked to each patient enables a view of what happens at each stage of a patient’s journey.” said Sanat Mishra, co-founder and CEO of BioStack. “We’re building the infrastructure that connects all of the clinical information and makes it useful, both for clinicians making decisions today and for the researchers and AI developers building the future of medicine.”

“The next frontier of healthcare AI will depend not only on better models, but on access to high-quality, longitudinal data that reflects how patients are treated over time,” said Pushpak Kedia, Vice President, Peak XV. “Sanat and the BioStack team are building critical infrastructure that connects fragmented clinical information and transforms it into a valuable resource for clinicians, researchers and AI developers. We believe BioStack has the potential to become an important data layer for the next generation of medical AI.”

The platform creates de-identified datasets that can support medical research, drug development and the training and evaluation of healthcare AI models. By linking treatment histories with long-term patient outcomes, the company aims to help researchers better understand disease progression and how patients respond to different treatments.

BioStack has also combined hundreds of thousands of X-rays, MRI scans, CT scans and other clinical records into datasets that can support the development of AI tools for healthcare professionals.

In India, the company is helping connect cancer patients with an investigational cancer vaccine programme. The initiative aims to support biotechnology research using clinical data while potentially providing eligible patients with access to personalised investigational treatments.

BioStack’s platform supports several applications, including medical AI development, clinical research, disease modelling, biomarker discovery, patient selection and treatment-response analysis.

With the new funding, the company plans to strengthen its data infrastructure and expand its presence in healthcare markets. Its goal is to make high-quality clinical data more accessible to researchers, biotechnology companies and developers working on the next generation of medical AI.
