Teal Health Raises $22 Million in Series A Round

Teal Health, a women’s health company developing at-home cervical cancer screening, has raised $22 million in Series A funding.

The round was led by .406 Ventures, with continued support from Emerson Collective, Forerunner and Serena Ventures, along with new participation from Japan-based MPower Partners. The latest investment brings Teal Health’s total funding to $45 million.

Teal Health developed the Teal Wand, an FDA-authorized device that allows women to collect samples at home for HPV cervical cancer screening without the need for a speculum or an in-office screening visit.

“We designed Teal for all women, whether they are behind on their screening or coming due. Screening is just too difficult today, whether that is finding an appointment, the time in your day to attend, or the physical discomfort. Women need an accurate, trusted alternative that makes it easy to screen,” said Kara Egan, CEO and Co-Founder of Teal Health.

The company combines at-home sample collection with a telehealth appointment. Patients receive their results through a secure platform and can be connected with follow-up care when needed.

Teal Health said the new funding will help expand partnerships with health insurers, healthcare systems, employers, providers and other organizations. The company is also expanding direct purchasing options for individuals and organizations.

“Patients are demanding more convenient ways to access healthcare, and Teal has proven that convenience doesn’t have to come at the expense of accuracy,” said Kathryn Taylor Reddy, Partner at .406 Ventures.

The funding will also support hiring across clinical, commercial, technology and operations teams as the company expands its services.

Since receiving FDA authorization in 2025, Teal Health said it has screened thousands of women across the US and has contributed to research on HPV self-collection through 17 peer-reviewed papers and presentations.

The company said 59% of women who choose Teal are underscreened, highlighting the potential role of at-home screening in reaching people who are overdue for cervical cancer screening.

Teal Health aims to make cervical cancer screening more accessible and convenient while helping healthcare providers address screening gaps and reduce pressure on clinics.
