Supabase, an open-source Postgres development platform, has raised $150 million in new funding to expand its infrastructure for AI-powered software development and agentic workloads.
The funding round was led by GIC, with participation from CapitalG, IronArc, and SquarePeg. The investment comes just four months after Supabase raised $500 million in its Series F round.
Supabase said the new funding will support continued product development around databases built for AI agents. Part of the funding will also provide liquidity for employees.
“The past year has been the fastest growth in our history by a wide margin. We’re grateful for the support from our existing and new investment partners like CapitalG. Their connections to the broader Alphabet ecosystem will be invaluable as we build for our next level of growth,” said Paul Copplestone, Co-founder and CEO of Supabase. “The future is agents and the architecture Turso provides will help us accelerate Supabase as the backend platform for supporting that future.”
The company is experiencing strong growth as AI coding tools and agents increasingly build and deploy software. Supabase says it is now adding more than 1 million users and 4 million databases each month, with 70% of new databases created by AI agents or AI-powered tools.
Supabase has also announced the acquisition of Turso, a database platform designed to provide scalable and cost-efficient databases for AI agent workloads.
Turso’s technology allows developers to create on-demand databases for individual AI agents across public cloud and bring-your-own-cloud environments. The acquisition is expected to help Supabase support applications that require large numbers of separate databases.
“Supabase has established itself as the critical open infrastructure layer powering the AI revolution,” said Derek Zanutto, general partner at CapitalG. “We’re proud to back one of the fastest growing private database companies on the planet as Paul and the team empower millions of developers and agents to build at unprecedented speed.”
Turso founder Glauber Costa will join Supabase as Head of Agentic Services, alongside co-founder Pekka Enberg and the Turso team.
Supabase provides developers with a backend platform that includes Postgres databases, authentication, storage, edge functions, real-time features and vector search. The company says more than 13 million developers use its platform.
The new funding and Turso acquisition are expected to help Supabase expand its infrastructure as AI agents increasingly become part of the software development process.
