Peugeot Invest Commits $175 Million to Mérieux NutriSciences

Peugeot Invest has committed $175 million to Mérieux NutriSciences to support the company’s acquisition of Certified Group and expand its presence in North America’s food safety and quality market.

Mérieux NutriSciences specializes in food quality, safety and sustainability services. The company has around 10,000 employees, operates a network of 140 accredited laboratories and generates more than $1 billion in annual revenue.

The acquisition of Certified Group is part of Mérieux NutriSciences’ growth strategy.

The company also expanded its global food testing business in 2024 through the integration of Bureau Veritas’ food testing operations.

North America is a key market for Mérieux NutriSciences, and the acquisition is expected to strengthen its position in the region’s food safety and testing sector.

Jean-Charles Douin, Chief Executive Officer of Peugeot Invest, commented: “We continue to build a portfolio of holdings in sectors where we have strong, long-term convictions. We are pleased to partner with Institut Mérieux to support Mérieux NutriSciences through a new chapter of growth in North America. A world leader in food safety, the company fully aligns with our ambition to support best-in-class companies as they address transformations in their markets.”

The investment also gives Peugeot Invest an entry into the Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) market. Peugeot Invest will become one of Mérieux NutriSciences’ leading minority investors and will have a seat on the company’s Board of Directors.

Peugeot Invest said the food testing market is supported by factors such as stricter regulations, growing consumer demand for food safety and traceability, and emerging health risks.
