Custodea, a European AI data platform for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs), has raised €350,000 in seed funding. The investment came from investors within Custodea’s network.
Custodea helps SMEs manage business data that is often spread across different software systems including accounting, customer management and HR tools.
Many businesses still use spreadsheets, manual data exports and information from different teams to get a complete view of their operations. Custodea aims to solve this problem by bringing all this data together in one place.
The platform connects data from dozens of business tools, including Exact Online, HubSpot and Personio into a private data environment. The information is continuously updated, so businesses can access the latest data without manual exports or complicated migrations.
Businesses can connect their Custodea data to tools such as Excel, Power BI, Looker, Tableau and dbt. The data can also be used to build AI models and agents. Custodea also offers an AI assistant that can answer questions and analyse company data, such as revenue trends and unpaid invoices.
“With Custodea, I want to help close the technology gap between large corporations – with large budgets and dedicated data teams – and SMEs. Data is power, and with Custodea, we are putting that power into the hands of SMEs: data they fully own, stored and managed within the EU and ready to power AI. We are launching SMEs into the AI era,” said Aerts.
Custodea is designed to give businesses more control over their data. All data connections are read-only by default and customers can decide who can access their information and remove access whenever they want.
The company’s infrastructure is fully based within the European Union. Custodea says this gives SMEs an option to keep their business data under EU-based infrastructure while continuing to use their existing software.
Many European businesses currently use software that relies on cloud infrastructure operated by US-based companies. Custodea aims to offer an EU-based alternative for businesses that want greater control over where their data is stored.
The new funding will support the launch of Custodea’s platform and help the company expand its service across European markets.
