Elucid Raises $55 Million in Oversubscribed Series D Round

Elucid, a Boston-based medical technology company, has raised $55 million in Series D funding to expand its AI-powered platform for diagnosing and treating cardiovascular disease.

The oversubscribed round included IAG Capital Partners, Elevage Medical Technologies, and a new undisclosed strategic investor. The investment brings Elucid’s total funding raised to approximately $185 million.

Led by CEO Kelly Huang, Elucid develops clinically validated AI software that turns routine CT angiography scans into detailed information about plaque, blood vessels, and blood flow. The technology is designed to help doctors identify patients at higher risk and make more personalized treatment decisions.

Elucid’s platform includes Plaque-IQ, its FDA-cleared image analysis software that helps physicians measure plaque type, amount, and composition in coronary and carotid arteries. The company says the technology provides information about high-risk plaque that can contribute to heart attacks and strokes.

The company is also developing BioIntegrated FFR-CT, a non-invasive technology designed to assess coronary blockages and the impact they have on blood flow. Its 510(k) submission is currently under FDA review.

“Analogous to oncology’s shift from population-based, one-size treatment, Elucid is applying AI to integrate anatomy, biology, and physiology to bring personalized treatment to coronary artery disease management. Physician feedback indicating that our current platform can uniquely lead to better care decisions fuels our mission to predict and personalize the prevention of heart attacks and strokes,” said Kelly Huang, PhD, chief executive officer of Elucid.

Elucid plans to combine FFR-CT with Plaque-IQ, along with a new user interface and reporting workflow, to create a broader clinical decision platform for cardiovascular care.

The company will use the new funding to accelerate commercial expansion, including the rollout of FFR-CT and Plaque-IQ, while continuing investment in AI research and development and large-scale clinical studies.

Elucid aims to improve how physicians diagnose and manage atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, a major cause of death worldwide, by providing more detailed information about plaque biology, vessel anatomy and blood flow.
