Pandektes Raises €13.5M Series A to Expand Legal Research Across Europe and North America

Copenhagen-based LegalTech company Pandektes has raised €13.5 million in Series A funding. The company develops legal research tools to help lawyers and legal teams find important legal information more quickly.

The funding round was led by Alstin Capital, a Munich-based early-stage venture capital firm that mainly invests in B2B software companies.

The round also included PROfounders, Scale Capital, and existing investors. The new funding will support Pandektes as it continues to develop its legal research platform and grow its business.

“Building a serious challenger was always deemed impossible. Today, we can collect and make sense of legal information at a scale that was not feasible before. That fundamentally changes what legal research can be,” said Laursen, co-founder and CEO at Pandektes.

Founded in 2022 by Casper Laursen and Søren Brokær, Pandektes has built a platform that helps legal professionals find and use legal information more easily. The platform collects information from laws, court decisions, administrative rulings, and other legal sources.

Pandektes brings legal information together, organises it, and keeps it updated. It can also combine this information with a company’s own data. The company says this helps lawyers and legal teams conduct research faster and with more reliable information.

Collecting and updating legal information from thousands of sources has traditionally been difficult. This has allowed established legal research providers to dominate their local markets. Pandektes believes AI is changing the legal research industry and is competing with established platforms such as LexisNexis, Westlaw, Beck, and Karnov.

“We have rarely seen a market like legal research, where so many end-users would like to switch their core system but historically simply couldn’t. Pandektes is building a modern data infrastructure for the entire European legal landscape that makes exactly that possible,” said Andreas Schenk, Managing Partner at Alstin Capital.

The new funding will help Pandektes expand across Europe and North America. The company wants to make cross-border legal research easier, faster, and more consistent.

Pandektes also plans to grow its team and make its technology available through an API, allowing other businesses and platforms to connect with its legal research tools.
