RadianX Raises $9 Million to Scale Perovskite Solar Module Production

RadianX, formerly known as California Perovskite Technology, Inc., has secured $9 million in combined venture and project financing to scale production of its certified perovskite solar modules.

The Seed round was co-led by SOSV and Twynam, with participation from One Small Planet, Sahsen Ventures, Avila VC, California Innovation Fund, quantumEDGE, Riceberg Ventures, and Alumni Ventures.

Alongside the funding, Pacific Union Technology Precision Manufacturing (PUT), a publicly listed precision components manufacturer, will fund a dedicated production line for RadianX to support commercial-volume manufacturing.

RadianX Develops Solar Modules for Connected Devices

RadianX develops perovskite solar modules for edge energy applications, including sensors, wearables, connected devices, and Physical AI.

Perovskite technology can generate power in low-light and indoor environments, where conventional silicon solar cells are less effective. The technology could help device makers extend battery life, use smaller batteries, and reduce or eliminate routine battery replacement in some applications.

RadianX’s modules are as thin as 0.7 millimeters. They are available in custom sizes and output voltages and are designed to integrate directly into existing product surfaces.

The company is initially focusing on hardware applications and is already integrating its modules with device makers.

RadianX Addresses Key Perovskite Commercialization Challenges

RadianX says it has addressed three challenges that have historically limited the commercial adoption of perovskite solar technology: material degradation, efficiency at full-module scale, and concerns about lead content.

Its modules are among the first perovskite modules certified by TÜV across all three categories of IEC TS 63163, the specification for photovoltaic modules used in consumer products. This includes Category 3, which applies to products with high outdoor exposure.

The company also reports certified efficiency results at cell, panel, and full-module scale. These include 22.33% efficiency on a 1.2-by-0.6-meter module, which RadianX described as a world record for that format at the time.

The modules have also passed lead-release testing under the EU’s REACH regulation and comply with RoHS.

Funding to Support Manufacturing and Product Development

Following the financing, Gary Chen, former CEO of Sunspark, a 250-megawatt solar producer based in Riverside, California, has joined RadianX as Vice President of Manufacturing and Product.

RadianX is also participating in the 2026 Amazon Devices Climate Tech Accelerator, run by Plug and Play.

The company is working with NGK Corporation to combine its solar modules with NGK’s EnerCera batteries in wireless asset trackers.

About RadianX

Based in Redwood City, California, RadianX develops ultra-thin perovskite photovoltaic modules designed to turn product surfaces into energy-generating areas.

Its modules capture indoor, outdoor and diffuse light and deliver up to 250 W/m² with minimal added mass.
