Green Voltis Raises €13.5M Series A to Expand AI-Powered Battery Storage Solutions in Europe

Stockholm-based Green Voltis, an AI-powered company that helps manage and trade battery storage across European electricity markets, has raised €13.5 million in a Series A funding round. The round was backed entirely by Lochpine Capital.

Green Voltis uses AI to manage standalone battery storage projects as well as renewable energy projects that combine power generation with battery storage. The company currently has more than 1.2 GWh of battery storage capacity under contract and in operation.

Europe is expanding its battery storage capacity, but project owners are facing several challenges. Getting connected to the electricity grid is becoming slower and more complicated. New grid requirements are also creating additional difficulties for existing control systems. At the same time, electricity prices across different markets can change every 15 minutes, making it harder for battery owners to predict their earnings and secure funding for new projects.

Martin Kievit, CEO and co-founder of Green Voltis, said: “Every new gigawatt of renewables makes Europe’s grid harder to balance, and flexibility now sets the pace of the energy transition. We built Aether and Chronos to turn storage and renewable plants into assets the grid can rely on and investors can bank on. The next wave of demand comes from AI. Data centres need power faster than grids can deliver it, and the intelligence that operates a battery can also manage a data centre’s energy. Green Voltis will provide the AI energy infrastructure layer between the grid and compute. With Lochpine Capital as a long-term partner, we are ready to build it.”

“As renewables take a larger share of the energy mix, grid connection and power trading are becoming key to the value of energy assets, and they are among the scarcest capabilities in Europe’s energy transition,” said Blake Niu, Partner and Head of Private Equity at Lochpine Capital. “We followed this field for a long time before choosing Green Voltis. The team combines AI-native technology with a global industrial perspective, and its operating results, which have consistently beaten the industry benchmark, show what it can do. We believe Green Voltis can become a leading operator of flexible energy assets in Europe and create greater value where AI and energy meet.”

Green Voltis is a Stockholm-based company that helps manage battery storage and flexible energy projects across Europe. It provides services for standalone battery storage and projects that combine renewable energy with battery systems. Its services cover everything from connecting projects to the electricity grid to managing and trading power. The company uses its own AI-powered trading tool, Aether, and its Chronos energy management system.

Green Voltis currently has more than 1.2 GWh of battery storage capacity under contract and in operation. It also has market access in place or under development across 10 European countries. In addition, the company has around 120 MW of powered land available in the Nordic region for its Power-to-Compute business. Through this initiative, it aims to develop AI data centres that work efficiently with the electricity grid in partnership with computing companies.
