BRIJ Medical, a medical technology company developing solutions for surgical incision management, has raised $5 million in a new financing round led by its Board of Directors, with most of the investment coming from existing investors.
The company had initially planned to raise $3 million, but has expanded the round to $5 million amid strong investor demand. The funding will go primarily towards driving commercial growth and future product releases.
Expanding Surgical Wound Care Solutions
BRIJ Medical’s products are used by surgeons in orthopaedic, plastic and spine surgery for a wide variety of procedures.
“We set out to raise $3 million and chose to upsize the round because our investors saw the same opportunity we do,” said Tim Gleeson, CEO of BRIJ Medical. “This investment allows us to put BRIJ-SEAL and Brijjit® in front of more surgeons while accelerating the launch of BRIJ-Ag. We’re seeing growing interest across multiple surgical specialties, and we’re focused on building the commercial reach and infrastructure to meet that demand.”
John Grotting, Chairman of the Board, added: “We increased our commitment because we believe BRIJ is at an important inflection point. The company has developed a differentiated portfolio addressing meaningful needs in surgical care, and we’re pleased to support the team as it enters its next phase of growth.”
In July 2026, the company launched BRIJ-SEAL™, an advanced wound closure device that provides a 14-day bacterial barrier. Later this quarter, the company also plans to launch BRIJ-Ag™, a silver-based antimicrobial wound dressing.
Its product portfolio also includes Brijjit®, an active tension offloading device that the company says has been clinically shown to eliminate up to 100% of incisional tension.
BRIJ Medical’s solutions are designed to cover, protect and reinforce surgical incisions, supporting patients from wound closure through recovery.
Funding to Support Commercial Growth
The $5 million financing will help BRIJ Medical expand its commercial operations and prepare for upcoming product launches.
With an expanding product portfolio, growing surgeon engagement and increased investment in its commercial organization, the company aims to strengthen its presence in the surgical incision management market.
BRIJ Medical says its products are trusted by plastic and orthopedic surgeons across the United States and Canada. The company is focused on improving incision management through active tension offloading and advanced incision protection.
