Israeli cybersecurity startup Sentra has raised $150 million in a Series C funding round led by Capital One Ventures. The investment brings the company’s total funding to more than $250 million as demand grows for data security solutions designed to protect enterprises using AI agents.
The November 4 announcement comes as organizations increasingly give AI agents access to sensitive business information. Sentra says it has recorded more than 300% year-over-year growth, although it has not disclosed the financial metric behind that figure or its valuation following the latest round.
Existing investors participating in the financing include Bessemer Venture Partners, Zeev Ventures, Standard Investments, Munich Re Ventures and Key1 Capital. A representative from Capital One Ventures will join Sentra’s board of directors.
“AI agents are now the busiest consumers of enterprise data, and many of them inherit access to data that hasn’t been fully classified or governed,” said Yoav Regev, Sentra’s co-founder and CEO, in the announcement. “Traditional perimeter controls weren’t built for agents moving at machine speed. What organizations can do is make sure the data those agents reach is already secured.”
Sentra’s Data Security Platform
Sentra develops data security technology that helps organizations identify sensitive information, manage access permissions and detect unusual activity involving AI agents.
Its platform discovers and classifies sensitive data across cloud storage, SaaS applications, data warehouses and other enterprise environments. It also maps which employees, service accounts and AI agents can access that information.
The platform helps organizations reduce excessive permissions and identify potential data exposure. When suspicious activity is detected, Sentra can respond by revoking access or removing risky sharing permissions.
As AI agents become more capable of carrying out tasks across enterprise systems, managing the information they can access has become an important part of cybersecurity. Sentra aims to help businesses secure their data before AI systems use it.
Company Background and Growth
Sentra was founded in 2021 by Yoav Regev, Asaf Kochan, Ron Reiter and Yair Cohen, who have backgrounds in cybersecurity and technology.
Regev, the company’s CEO, previously served in Israel Defense Forces Unit 8200. Kochan is Sentra’s president and a former Unit 8200 commander. Reiter serves as CTO and previously managed Oracle’s Tel Aviv development center, while Cohen is CPO and has held senior roles at Microsoft and Datadog.
The company has approximately 130 employees, including around 65 in Tel Aviv. Sentra’s previous funding round raised $50 million, with PitchBook data placing its valuation at approximately $205 million at that time. The company has not disclosed its valuation in the latest round.
Funding to Support Expansion
Sentra plans to use the new capital to expand research and development, hire employees in Israel and internationally, and grow its sales operations.
The company also plans to strengthen its presence in Europe, particularly in London, where it sees opportunities arising from strict data regulations and increasing demand for enterprise security solutions.
The latest funding will support Sentra’s efforts to expand its data security platform as businesses adopt AI agents and seek greater control over sensitive information.
