Aligned Marketplace Raises $20M Series A to Expand Advanced Primary Care Network

Aligned Marketplace, a healthcare marketplace that connects self-insured employers with independent primary care providers, has raised an additional $20 million in Series A funding.

The round was led by Venrock. The company plans to use the new funding to expand access to advanced primary care for more employers and third-party administrators (TPAs).

Aligned also plans to expand its marketplace to include value-based specialty care, giving employees access to specialists while helping employers control healthcare costs.

Focus on Lower Healthcare Costs

Aligned connects employers with independent doctors who provide advanced and direct primary care outside traditional hospital systems and insurance networks.

The company says its approach can help employers reduce healthcare spending while giving employees easier access to primary care.

In a program launched on January 1, 2025, employees at a Fortune 500 company who used Aligned doctors had healthcare costs that were 12% lower than a risk-matched national benchmark, equal to savings of about $96 per member per month.

Aligned said 70% of engaged members were identified as high-risk. These members visited their Aligned primary care doctor an average of 4.7 times and made 1.6 fewer visits elsewhere.

The company also reported improvements in preventive care. Mammogram rates roughly doubled, while colonoscopy rates nearly tripled among engaged members after their first visit.

“Our mission is to increase America’s healthy years. Unfortunately, the healthcare system was built to treat illness and generate volume, not to keep people healthy, control costs for the employer who pays the bills, or let independent doctors practice the way they want. We’ve proven that a different model works — one where keeping people healthy actually saves money,” said Patrick Nelli, Founder and CEO of Aligned Marketplace.

“Employers continue to struggle with rising healthcare costs and poor access to primary care. Fortunately, better primary care lowers healthcare costs by making people healthier. Aligned Marketplace has built a national network of exceptional primary care providers who are super accessible to patients and deliver on the promise of making people healthier, which also lowers cost for employers and patients,” said Bob Kocher, Partner at Venrock.

Expanding Across the U.S.

Aligned Marketplace currently provides access to more than 3,000 in-person clinics across all 50 U.S. states.

The company works alongside employers’ existing insurance carriers and third-party administrators, meaning employers do not need to replace their existing benefits platforms.

Aligned said its model is designed to connect employees with independent primary care doctors and, when needed, high-value specialist care.

The company will use the latest funding to expand its network, reach more employers and TPAs, and grow its value-based specialty care offering.
